a very long dance mission

Move every single cell in your body at the same time and at the same pace for 4 minutes while pausing in unexpected places.

Like,

Pause when you feel off balance.
Pause when you might fall.

Pause when you don’t want to pause.
Pause when you do.

Now move only your right elbow for 5,4,3,2,1.
Your left knee.
Both knees.

Let your hips pull you backward and just as you start to understand backward, let them pull you forward.

Once you start to understand forward, let your hips pull you to the side -- left, then right.

Left shoulder — same.

Right pinkie — same.

This is good music to do this too.

K, now, balance one foot and notice all the little movements rippling through you.

Balance on your other food and notice the palms of your hands.

Let the palms of your hands lead you to a wall. Place your head against that wall, any wall, and see where it takes you, your head, connected to the wall.

Slide down the wall, fast, push out and away, and lie still.

Get back up and now slow slide down, and slink away, for a long time.

Here's some good music for that.

Again, move every single cell in your body at the same time and at the same pace, but now for only 2 minutes, with no pauses.

Now pause, after the 2 minutes are up.

Move every single cell for 1 minute at the same time and at the same pace -- no pauses.

Pause again, but only after the 1 minute is up.

Move every single cell for 30 seconds.

And pause -- for 30 seconds, pause.

Notice your breath and only move on the out breath.

Pause on the gap, the inhale, the gap, and move only on the out breath again.

Repeat, repeat, repeat.

More music.

Reach now, toward a window with your ear.

Toward the refrigerator with your left big toe, toward the kitchen sink with the right side of your rib cage, back behind you toward the table, which maybe you slither onto and then roll.

Crumble underneath the kitchen table, whether you’ve rolled or not, and crawl onto — no hands — the nearest chair.

Be still in the chair, perched in a way you aren't normally perched on a chair while eating the evening meal.

Crawl back off of the chair — now with hands — and onto to the floor.

Find the wall again, with your hands, your feet, your hips, your shoulders, your spine, your belly, pushing into and out of, the wall.

Look up.

Make time to look up.
